the works of L. Ron Hubbard

This site is in no way related to or condoned by the Church of Scientology. If you are seeking their advice, then you have come to the wrong place. Look them up on the net with the use of one of the major search engines.

Having said the above, we do not regard ourselves as the enemy of the Church. Unfortunately, they think of us as squirrels. I refer you to our success stories pages and allow you to make up your own mind whether squirrels can get case gain like that.

Also an LRH quote may help here:

***BEGIN FAIR USE QUOTE***

"I consider all auditors my friends. I consider them that even when they squirrel. I believe they have a right to express themselves and their own opinions. I would not for a moment hamper their right to think. I think of auditors and Scientologists as the Free People."...

"I don't expect auditors or Scientologists to instantly agree with or seize upon whatever I say. I would be offended if they did and would feel they weren't a Free People. Since they are intelligent I expect them to think over what's said, try it, and if it's good for them, use it. That old auditors sooner or later come back to and use what I have discovered isn't any testimony to our relationship atall, it's only a testimony to my being right because I meant to be right in the first place."...

"I sorrow when I see somebody accomplishing less than he should because he thinks I wouldn't approve of it. In organizations and out I count upon initiative and good judgment."

L. Ron Hubbard, PAB 79, 10 April 1956, THE OPEN CHANNEL

The church also tend to regard the Free Zone as copyright and trademark terrorists that steal their income and parishioners. We do use "fair use" quotes as above, but this is quite legal. And we do use trademarked words such as "Scientology", but claim the right to do so under the rights of free speech and because it is a word in common usage. (Perhaps the Church should have taken the advice of many large multinational corporations who commonly go to great lengths to ensure that their company name and product names are not the same!) And we advise persons affiliated to us that they should obtain their materials by legal means (there are various outlets on the net where books and tapes may legitimately be had either new or second hand).

And, of course, the notion that we are stealing their income and parishioners is ludicrous beyond belief. There are none in the Free Zone who are here because they are forced to be. We are all either escapees from the Church, or those who never chose to go there in the first place (and continue to chose this despite the fact they they are well aware that an official church exists and that they are free to go there at any time of their own choosing). These facts, unfortunately, seem to elude some Church executives.

Our position relative to the Church is actually much the same as LRH took in relation to those who attacked him. A quote perhaps slightly out of context, but pertinent all the same:

***BEGIN FAIR USE QUOTE***

"If you were driving a fire engine toward a raging fire and some cur dogs rushed out to bark at your wheels, I don't think you would stop and begin to fight the cur dogs, unless you were quite mad of course. And that is our position. There is a fire, which we are en-route to put out. And this is the line we are traveling. And this other is merely a side show which has been impeding and has made the work relatively difficult...."

"But you see at once that the world is not full of people who are against us. As a matter of fact they went much too far and the public has now begun to turn in our direction. They said too much which was untrue."

LRH, Ron's Journal 67
