What does this all have to do with me you might be asking. I'll try to put it all in
some perspective. As I alluded to
on our pages for people new to Scientology, this subject is about application and, unless you do want
to do something with it, it has precisely nothing to do with you! But I guess most of
the people reading this page are a bit skeptical and rightly so. The best route to
finding out if this subject can actually be of benefit to you is to try it. But do
not "try it" simply with an open mind. You need to find something in your life that you
can imagine might be improved if this subject were to be of use to you. Now some
people, when I say "might be improved" can think of something relatively positive
about themselves they would like improved. They might say, "I'd like to be able to
get along better with others, perhaps my communication skills could be worked on".
Well, that's fine. There certainly are some communication drills that Scientology
counsellors use to assist them in their work that actually work like dynamite for
ordinary people in their every day lives. And if this sort of thing is a good fit
with what you want to achieve, then go ahead and try it on that basis.
A few may think even more positively about it with a thought such as, "I don't know
whether I need this, but it could sure help my mother". Well, it probably can. And
such a person would be advised to undertake course of study to see in just how many
ways you can help others with this subject.
Unfortunately, perhaps, thinking of it in relatively positive terms, as above, often
doesn't bite deep enough with a lot of people. Their outlook may be that "life is a
bitch", or that they are "depressed", or that "life has never been the same since my
girlfriend left me" etc. Others may phrase their own personal downfall differently.
But, whatever it is, one has to think in terms of what can this subject do for one in
real life. Scientology just might be able to help with it. We do not guarantee a cure
and it may be hard work. Sorry if that sounds like rubbing your nose in it and then
saying it is mainly down to you to dig yourself out of the hole. One has to come to
the point where one recognises that there is a problem to handle, before one can handle
it.
If you're willing to give it try then you should read one or more of the following
books:
Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health.
(or if you're not a big reader, try Dianetics: Evolution of a Science first.)
Scientology: Fundamentals of Thought
Problems of Work
We do not sell these books ourselves. If you look at our
links page you will find a section where
we list sites that sell these materials.
You should read the books regardless, but if you think you want to take matters further
then you should get in contact with us and we can perhaps arrange for you to do the
communication course or perhaps counselling as appropriate. Go
here to find the email addresses.
See our pages on Dianetics,
Scientology
and the Tone Scale.
Hopefully things are a little more in perspective now...
