Scientology and Doubt

Hi, this is a rambling page that intends to help you through any doubt condition you may be in concerning the subject of Scientology. When a person first arrives at a website such as this one there may be some misconceptions etc which need to be cleared up before that person can again progress with the subject. You may be a person currently in the Church of Scientology, or you may be someone who has effectively left that organisation but who yet has doubts about joining any other similar group. You might even be someone who has never been part of the Church of Scientology, interested in finding out more, but are in a state of some shock at things you may have read on the net. Your reason for having doubts about membership of any scientolgy related group may have to do with what you regard as misapplication of the technology to your own case or to others. You could have doubts about the tech. You may have been on the receiving end of what you regard to be rough justice procedures used by the Church of Scientology.

Since I am in the position of having to cater for all these possibilities and only have this one way communication line to work with, you will have to forgive me if I include some material here which may be of only passing interest. Please pick and choose from the material and links provided as needed for your own situation.

First point! Please try to differentiate at all times. Not all persons are bad all the time. Not everything about the Church of Scientology is bad. Further, many people, both within the Church of Scientology and outside it, think that the Church and the subject of Scientology are the same thing. They are not. Not everything about the Freezone is good either. Just take your time to digest all the information. Remember, "what is true for you, is true for you".

Perhaps the next thing is to remind yourself of what the doubt condition actually is and the formula for getting out of it. There is a page here which gives this information and some comments which you may find helpful.

Some people, even established members of the Freezone, have found the subject of "Disconnection" charged. We have a page about ethics and disconnection.

Another thing to keep in mind is that going through this condition may be quite a heavy experience. If you find yourself getting introverted, I suggest taking a walk and getting some space. Further it is as well to always keep in mind that Scientology actually does produce some wonderful gains and states of being. Please visit the our success pages frequently if you find yourself losing sight of this. Also on this site our pages should you join and freezone relations with the Church of Scientolgy may help a little. Further, you can join our mailing list where someone may be able to answer any questions you have.

OK. Now the gradient goes up. There follows some links to a variety of sites with all sorts of information about the history and activities of the Church of Scientology and the Freezone. Some of these sites are of a highly critical nature in relation to either the subject of Scientology or the Church. We do not necessarily agree with everything that is said by all of them, but include them here either because they present a different point of view or contain some useful information. Inclusion of a link on this page does not mean that all the sites chosen to be linked to are endorsed by FZAOINT.

Here is a site where you can find some freezone history.
Another site with similar information is here.

A page with some information about who really runs Scientology.
And another site with more information about that subject is here.
Also some information given by Jesse Prince.
Some history of how the Church of Scientology attempted to manipulate search engine rankings.
Video evidence of an OSA operative confessing to criminal activity on behalf of the Church of Scientology.

Some links to official Church sites:
http://www.scientology.org = The main Scientology site
http://www.whatisscientology.org = What is Scientology
http://www.dianetics.org = The principle Dianetics site
http://www.lronhubbard.org = Site about L. Ron Hubbard
You will have to forgive me for not making the above links clickable. They already feature highly enough on the search engine listings and I have no wish to contribute to their page rank by giving them an in-bound link. Please cut and paste the addresses into your browser url box if you feel you need to visit these sites.

A page that documents tech alterations by the Church of Scientology.
Another site with similar information is here and they also have a page with some of the Church of Scientology's stats.

If I may quote the Clear statistics from the above site, we get the first 4 columns of the table below. However, I do not feel that these statistics are accurate. Not, I hasten to add, because of any inaccuracy on the part of the person reporting the figures. It is just that there are some things about the numbers which do not reflect the complete state of affairs. The large rise in the late seventies in the number of Clear attests arose from the fact that people were discovered who had gone Clear in past auditing, some as far back as 1948 or so. So this represents a "backlogged" statistic, where the real work had happened years before. Also, the negative stat in the early nineties must presumably be attributable to the figures having been reported as falsely high in the prior years, probably mainly around 1984 judging from the relatively large rise at that time. Adjusting the figures to account for all this and also bringing in the likely figures for 1997 to 2001 based upon there being 12 clear attests reported for the period around Oct/Nov 2001 in Advance Mag 156, then I get the figures in the 5th column of the table below.

Finally, if you come out of Doubt and make up your mind to leave the Church of Scientology, but stick with Freezone Scientology, and have money in the Church you think you're due, here is some information on refunds,

Graphing these statistics, we get:
Number of Clears

The above graph shows a healthy uptrend to a point around the late seventies, early eighties period. It then went into a steep danger condition, continued there and, like all unhandled danger conditions, has more recently gone into a condition tantamount to non-existence. The point at which the stats started to decline was around the same time when the branch of the Chruch of Scientology known as RTC came into existence and the current Chairman of the Board, David Miscavige came to power. The period where the stats rose was when Hubbard was active in developing the tech.

Disclaimer: This site is not in any way connected with the Church of Scientology. It is about Freezone Scientology. That is Scientology (and Dianetics) as practiced by persons who believe in the workability of the spiritual technology (auditing) developed by L. Ron Hubbard, but who wish to follow those beliefs free from the purview of the Church of Scientology. If you came to this site wishing to find the Church of Scientology, go to a reputable search engine site and use words such as Scientology, Dianetics or L. Ron Hubbard as your search criteria whereupon you should find a selection of the sites promoted by that organisation.
